Jolene is happy!

Time really flies! It is already March of 2014 and in 2 months time, I'll be flying off to Korea for a short vacation! A mini birthday treat from myself. Mad excited about it but I think I'll miss Cotton like hell.

I've been enjoying myself lately. Going out till late at night, singing karaoke, randomly going to play basketball (though my session only lasts 15 minutes but who cares. HAHA!) and also enjoying good food! Leney is the happiest girl now! Heh, can't wait to see you again during the weekends.

Anyway, I really love my new lipstick from Etude House! It is the "Dear My Blooming" lipstick series in shade PK013 (as seen above!). The color comes off pink-ier than I thought but I think it looks pretty well on me since I'm considered pretty fair! Actually I feel that it makes me look a little more 'korean-ish'! Hah! Cute packaging and pretty color, what's there not to love? Although there is a downside to it, it comes off pretty fast and requires reapplication from time to time but oh well!

Happy 2014!

Happy 2014 to all of you!
How has the new year been treating you nice people?

Just a couple of days back, I accompanied Martin to his OCS Social Night event.
It was pretty unexpected but I must say it was really an honor for me to be invited! :)
The theme was 'Timeless' and I settled for the champagne-black maxi dress I bought at New Look. It was love at first sight and I have absolutely no regrets getting it.

Here's a picture of Martin and I.
This guy here is probably 20cm taller than me!

When I reached the venue, SAFTI Military Institute, there were already lots of cadets and of course pretty ladies who obviously dolled up for their dates and I must really give them a thumbs up for their effort! Every one looked extremely gorgeous that night including the guys (Ahem, men in uniform dayummm)!

Exchanged handshakes with his friends and
went chit-chatting around with some of his friend's dates! And do note, it was a 2 hours
odd standing event so, ladies, please prepared to have aching legs after the event.

And, I think it is extremely important to be sociable! You could see some girls sitting at one corner by themselves and phew, thankfully the girls there were all nice and friendly. So we practically added each other on Facebook and Instagram la! HAHA!

It was definitely a memorable night for me.
Thank you Martin for inviting me! It was truly an honor for me.
I shall end of with a picture of me in my lovely dress! Hehe!

How to get over a breakup

I am finally posting again!
Just went through a really bad period and wanted to hide away from my blog for a moment. But now I am alright and I thought I should blog to voice out certain thoughts.

My relationship with A has finally ended and it was really ugly. Never would I have thought that the man I truly loved would ever place me in such a bad situation. But nevertheless, both parties were at fault and should be blamed.

The initial period was really tough. Every single thing reminded me of him! His clothing, his shaver and some other personal items were all at my place! (This is what happens when you let your other half live at your place). The moment I looked at these items.. the only thing I could do was to cry. Coming from a very egoistical person, every time after I cried, I'd hate myself because I cannot succumb to the fact that this man left me for another but yet I am still here crying over him. The worst part was that I couldn't break it to my family that we have broken up as they already see him as a part of my family (my sister even calls him brother-in-law fyi).

It was really like a nightmare to me. I could neither eat or sleep well. I couldn't even concentrate in classes! But I decided  that this wasn't the right way to handle the breakup, especially since I know that he is better off without me.

I decided it was time to
1) throw all the items that he bought for me into a box (lock it up like a pandora's box)
2) dump all his tee-shirts away.
3) delete all unhappy/sad romantic love songs from your phone.
4) spend more time with family and friends (people who truly cares about you)
5) love myself more

The fifth item on the list is really something that I have learnt to do after this breakup and I urge all ladies to do the same. Of course there'd be times where you get upset and you just wish to cry the hell out of yourself and then reproach the man for leaving your life and ruining everything (these all begins in the initial stage and should stop as time gradually passes by) but ultimately, you HAVE TO LEARN TO LOVE YOURSELF! Love yourself enough to know that the man has walked out of your life and has decided that you mean nothing to him. Love yourself to know that you are capable of bringing happiness to yourself. Start doing things that makes you happy! You can cook, sew, learn how to do mani/pedicure, learn how to doll yourself up or anything! Anything that makes you happy. Because you truly deserve happiness.

Musee Platinum Singapore review (First treatment! Yay!)

Time for IPL treatment review!
So far, I have yet to wait very long for my treatment to start. Probably only about 5-10 minutes max?

So during the first treatment (did it a few months back, probably around March), I was escorted into the treatment room whereby I have to change into a blue tank-top that they have provided. After changing, I laid down on the bed under a blanket with my eyes covered. The staff told us every single step that they are about to do and was pretty detailed about it.

Here comes the embarrassing part..

You gotta bare your pits! So now the treatment starts, the consultant will use an electric shaver to shave off hair that are long. Next she'd cleanse the underarms and then apply some gel on the it!

Now, it is time to zappppppp the underarms

I wouldn't say it is really painful. It felt more like ants biting it.. On the scale of 1/10, it is probably about 3? The pain is really bearable! She probably zapped each side about 8 times? After zapping, she placed a cooling pad under the armpits and asked me to "kiap" it tight for about 5 minutes. I think this process is just to cool the armpits down (I better ask her the next time round!)

Now I am onto my third treatment, and yes the IPL definitely works for me. I used to shave very often, probably every day because I have rapid hair growth (more like, long stubs). But now, I shave about 3 days apart! On top of that, it definitely brightens my underarm quite a bit. I totally can't wait for the next appointment to come.

PS: She did tell me not to shave for about 2 weeks during the first treatment. But I couldn't do it lah, I waited for 3 days and I felt so ughhhhhhhhhh by the sight of it already! Perhaps if you really listened to the consultant, the effects might be better?

Musee Platinum Singapore review

A few months back, my friend and I bought Musee Platinum Tokyo' underarm IPL package at only SGD 88 (I used the "All Deals Asia" mobile application and search for all the deals so I cannot remember specifically at which deal's web did I purchase it from) for unlimited sessions on top of that, there is even a free gift! At first I was rather skeptical about it, $88 for unlimited sessions did seem a little too.. you know what I meant. But we just went ahead to give it a try!

We chose the outlet at Bugis+ (formerly known as Iluma).  I really like the place because it looks neat and tidy! Be warned that they are extremely particular about late-coming and there will be penalties if you are late for more than 10 minutes! On top of that, you may have to re-schedule your appointment if there are no more slots for you. So please bear that in mind! :)

Moving on.. On the day of consultation, the consultant brought us into a small room to give a little short briefing on the don'ts, what to expect from the treatments and of course, about hair growth along with its cycle and stages.

Let me give you a list on the don'ts (Those that I can remember)
  • No alcohol 24-48 hours prior to treatment
  • Do not apply deodorant/perfume before treatment
  • Do not pluck your underarm hair 3 weeks before treatment
  • Shave 2 days before treatment
Apparently I didn't get to do the first treatment on that day because I went to pluck my underarm hair about a week before consultation. So the consultant told me that there may not be results because I plucked out the root of it. So I had to reschedule again for my first treatment, what a bummer for me!

One thing I like about the place is that, the consultant did hard-sell me a little about the packages and all but I rejected because I'm a student and the prices a quite expensive! She accepted that fact and did not attempt further (You know some places, they can just come up with student deals on the spot and that is quite irritating!). Another thing is that, she did not give me any sort of black-face or attitude upon facing rejection :)

I'll talk about my first and second treatment in the next blog post!
Do leave a comment if you have any enquiries!
