Day 1

Day 1:
The tea is finally here! A little off-track but I love that I can track my shipment based on the vehicle location!

This is how it looks like, in case some of you don't know but heh, with its uprising popularity I doubt anyone wouldn't know. I started off with the Morning Boost which contains natural ingredients such as green tea, yerba mate, nettle leaves, dandelion and guarana.

For the benefit of those who don't know what are the ingredients for, it shall be listed below. (save time, no need one by one go and google! Jin ma huan)
Green tea: boosts energy, improves immunity, burns calories
Yerba mate: boosts metabolism, curbs appetite
Nettle leaves: natural diuretic, antioxidant
Dandelion: improves digestions, detoxifies, cleanses
Guarana: increase physical endurance & alertness, stimulates digestion

The night cleanse contained natural ingredients such as ginger root, orange leaves, lemongrass, senna leaves, licorice root.
Ginger root: anti-bloating, detoxifying
Orange leaves: improves digestion, promotes good sleep
Lemongrass: anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, enhance complexion
Senna leaves: natural laxative, anti-bloating, reduces appetite
Licorice root: relieves from cramps and constipation

*Descriptions are lifted off the SkinnyMint morning boost package

After drinking the morning boost, I did feel like the tea was doing its magic! I relieved quite a fair number of gasses. Oops! Though I am not too sure if it was because of the hot water. Anyway, the tea smells really sweet and nice! It contains caffeine so it is best to drink it before 5pm, (if not you're gonna stay "high" all the time~) you can drink it every morning either before or during breakfast. Just simply place the bag for 5 minutes in nearly boiling water! And also, I am not exactly sure if I am supposed to keep refilling the hot water but I did refill it once or twice since the color still looks rather thick.

The night cleanse smelled kinda minty and ginger-ish but overall bearable! The night cleanse should be taken every other night after the last meal and do note that since the tea contains laxative, you might feel like pooping after drinking! So yes, I went to the toilet thrice (morning, afternoon, and night) and I felt really dehydrated at the end of the day. I guess I need to drink a lot of water and have some fruits to replenish!

Hmm, and it does seem that my tummy is a little flatter today but it might just be me thinking too much!

Skinnymint Teatox

I jumped on the bandwagon and purchased a pack of SkinnyMint to try. It should not be foreign to those active on social media platforms, but for the benefit of those who doesn't know. It is actually a 14/28 days tea-tox program which helps detoxes your body. It comes with two cleanses, morning and night, whereby the morning cleanse helps to kick start the day with extra energy, and the night cleanse to revitalize and cleanse the body.

I've heard of many good reviews about it including those from close friends of mine so I am really excited to see if actually works on me! But I am guessing for it to work even more effectively, I’d have to make some alteration to my diet and yes, I am willing to make a change. I always feel bloated, and sometimes I do get acid re-flux! I am telling you, it feels really uncomfortable! Hopefully this program would a catalyst that would help me reach my "healthy lifestyle" (not crazy workouts or counting calories but to motivate me to eat more greens, move my ass a little more) goal. I'll break down my posts into 3: first day, seventh day and last day so that I can update on the differences.

2014 is coming to an end!

*Gasps!*

Just less than 3 days and 2014 will officially be over! Time seems to zoom past as you age.. damn this is scary. I bet everyone is doing this now - writing down what have you gained and loss during the year, so I thought I ought to do the same.

In 2014, I have learnt that I haven't exactly been a good friend who is able  to strike a balance between her friendship and relationship, though I must say I did try. I, just being me, am the type of girl who places love above anything else. I thought close friends ought to know that but sadly, the truth always disappoints. I spent the last month thinking about this question, "What are friends for?"., "Are they only needed when they are needed?" and "Do friends genuinely care about the plight you're in?" It was indeed a baffling question which I, myself, find it difficult to answer the question. I guess this is what happens when your friendship does not have substantial depth.

Nevertheless, 2014 has been a fairly okay year for me. I guess the happiest thing was that I'm spending the year end with my lover. (Isn't it great to end and start the year with someone you love? :)) I am madly in love!  Though he pisses me off to no ends, sometimes I wish I could roundhouse kick his face but I still love him very much.

On a side note, I'm finally left with my last semester! Though at some point of my time I am surely going to regret what I'm saying but heck, I CAN'T WAIT TO FREAKING GRADUATE!

Dating a vegetarian

I've been dating my boyfriend a couple of months now and that's right, he's a vegetarian.
I still vaguely remember telling my friends during my first year of polytechnic, "WHICH IDIOT WOULD DATE JD? HE'S A VEGETARIAN LEH.", and tada! It turns out that I'm the idiot who fell for his charms. :)

It was really weird at first because.. to be totally honest, i love eating meat. But thank goodness, he was really nice and told me to just eat whatever I want. yes many will say that problems will surface when the relationship gets longer but let's deal with now first okay? thanks for the concerns :) I guess that's why the reason why I love him so, he did not try to force me to be a vegetarian just so that I could be with him since we both believe that if I were to turn into a vegetarian, it should solely be the better for me and not for him. I had a friend who dated a vegetarian once and she couldn't come close to him because she just ate meat. Isn't that a tad too ridiculous? I guess then that's not love aye.

When I first told my friends that I was dating him, they gave me a really weird expression and this was one of the commonly asked questions from my friends:

1) Where do I go for dinner with him?
It doesn't have to be an all vegetarian restaurant. For him, just as long as the place sells one item that contains NO MEAT then it's fine. My best bet would be Italian restaurants since they do sell no-meat pastas or pizzas e.g. mushroom aglio olio or veggie pizzas. There is also a place that sells vegetarian sushi, Teng Bespoke Japanese Restaurant, holy bazooka I really loved that place!

Dating a vegetarian is not all that bad! According to an article from buzzfeed, one of the perks of dating a vegetarian is that you'll never have to worry about them snatching bacon from you!

So should you shun away if a vegetarian boy or girl falls in love with you?
My answer: wait and see because time will tell.
If the person, unfortunately, starts sending you gore videos of animals being slaughtered just so that you could change your mind about eating meat then obviously I think you should reconsider because I feel that there should be a mutual understanding. And as I have mentioned, such changes should only be the better for yourself and not just for your partner. Date around and see, you'll be opened to many new experiences that you've never had before. Trust me :)

Till then, xoxo.

Slice of life

It is now almost 3 in the morning and I'm still not asleep. My love is definitely gonna kill me if he manages to know that I am still up awake at such ungodly timing.

Started thinking about the past and it kind of upsets me every time I think about what happened. Now that I've gotten into a new relationship, I'm trying my best not to repeat the same mistakes as I have did before. Do not wish to put myself at risk, can't handle another relationship "tragedy". Not that I am weak or what but you know.. such relationship failure can really haunt you for life. All of that bloody trust issue and what not.

Apart from all of that, I have been doing great! *Yipee* Life has been really good for me. I have met nice people along the way, pleasant things happening around me, and of course my boyfriend has also contributed a large part to my happiness. I thank God for that! As for studies.. I'm currently in my last year, gonna graduate in less than a year's time. Goodness, I swear time just practically flew pass.

What about you? Have you been doing great too?

Group Therapy!

Fancy a great breakfast?
I think it's time to head down to Group Therapy!

Hopped over for dinner over to weekends to celebrate Toh's birthday and I am absolutely pleased by the food. It is located at 49 Duxton Road and it quite easily missed but fret not! Just stick to the right and look for a black signboard that reads the name of the cafe!

The space is kinda constraint but well decorated, it could probably fit only 40 people? Noise is kinda inevitable too due to such space. But there was a waiting area and you could browse the menu while you wait so it kinda evens out all the negativity ;). The prices of the food were not expensive, it ranges from $10-18 depending on what you order, and best of all, no service charge! *Rejoice*

Enough of the talking :)

Hunter's chicken

Sheperd's pie

Croque Madame (mad love this dish because it has bacon ^^)

Truffled Ravioli (for vegetarians!)

Bacon & Mushroom pasta

Are you salivating yet?
After we are done with our therapeutic dinner, we went over to Cake Spade!

Strawberry Tofu Cheesecake, Red Velvet Cake and Something something Blackout.

Do note that Cake Spade is REALLY small.
I think it could only fit 6 people inside but the cakes were awesome!
But damn, do give it a try! I think it deserves a chance.
OH BTW, take-outs are available too!

Dinner at J's

The number of halal restaurants in Singapore is really limited but I'm glad to have chanced upon J's while surfing the net for halal restaurants. It is a little gem hidden along the streets of Purvis Street. When I arrived at the place, it was full-house and I kind of regretted not making a reservation. But the manager actually served us beverages and it was on the house! Damn, not sure if it's our lucky day or is their service really that top-notch! But nonetheless, we were all appreciative.

The ambience and atmosphere of J's is good, all the way from the decorations to the lightings. The lady who served us is always smiling and that really made our day despite having to wait.

We ordered the Adobo Chicken, the Catch of The Day, the Sirloin of Beef (180gm), the Chicken Fajitas, the Churros with Bananas and Mangoes, and the Bread and Butter Pudding. The main dishes were alright, I wouldn't say that it is fantastic BUT the desserts were the highlight of the night!

Churros with Bananas and Mangoes

The churros, ugh mouthwatering!
When dipped into banana and mangoes, I think I tasted a little bit of heaven.
How can it tastes so good?

Bread and Butter Pudding

This is a must-order.
I EMPHASIZE THAT ITS A MUST ORDER!
Baked brioche with milk, eggs, white chocolate, walnut, and peaches.
Hot and moist. Now that's comforting!

PS: there is a separate menu for vegetarians.
(yay! I can bring my love there for dinner!)

Hatched @ Holland Village

Headed down to Hatched for brunch.
Every one seems to have tried Hatched before so I decided that I should give it a try too.
A little spoilt for choices as they have different kinds of cooking styles for the eggs.
It ranges from poached eggs, to omelettes, to boiled and etc.

Sir Benedicts

English muffin topped with streaky bacon, smoked ham, poached egg and hollandaise sauce.
It is also served from mashed potatoes.

Truffle Fries

I guess nothing can go wrong with truffle fries aye?

Not very sure if I'm impressed with the food. For the price I'm paying, I think I can get something better at other cafes. I'm not too sure about it? What do you people think? But one thing's for sure, I'll definitely not return to Hatched again.
